Great analysis

Marianne, we do well to support centered goodhearted leaders when they arise.

I suggest that we also need regular people to step up and become leaders and communicators in their own right – not necessary at the political level, but at the level of helping people grasp the catastrophic consequences of current ecological trends and potentially nuclear war.

I was talking with my friend Nicholas Vessey of Aspen Wisdom. I learned that although he is aware of climate change – we all are – he does not seem particularly concerned about it. His focus is on fostering unity consciousness. ‘Physical reality’ as I call it, is not on his radar.

I wonder if you feel that ecological trends are ‘catastrophic’? Maybe not. But I think that anyone who seriously looks into the reality of ‘forever chemicals’; the way we are destroying the algae that are the basis of the oceanic web of life; and the consequences of deforestation and species loss would be horrified.

My conclusion: it is imperative we mobilize thoughtful public will to transform our ecologically destructive system, and indeed evolve a compassionate ecologically sustainable world.

The League of Evolutionary Catalysts is a community of practice working on this.

Cultivating emotional well-being is crucial. My own book Inner Work is a manual of techniques people can use to resolve their own emotional triggers.

And for those who influence policy, supporting parents in raising happy kids is important leverage point for evolving a compassionate society.

The task of evolving a compassionate ecologically sustainable world is bigger than all of us. We should work together.
